The Greatest Cookware of All Time
Most people are victims to marketing and make major mistakes when buying cookware.
All my friends are throwing their money away on brands like Caraway, Our Place, Green Pan, or Hexclad.
What a scam. These pans last 1-2 years, plus they're toxic (read this study).
You need to be informed - you want to INVEST in cookware... not just BUY it.
When you invest in pans that last, it's better for your bank account and the planet.
Before we talk about what to invest in... here's what you need to know about pots and pans:
AVOID THE FOLLOWING:
- Nonstick pots and pans (Teflon, Hexclad, all nonstick coatings)
- Nonstick Ceramic (Caraway, Our Place, Green Pan - BIGGEST SCAM)
- Copper pans
- Aluminum pans
- Cheap stainless steel from China (like Cuisinart or brands at Costco)
These all leach microplastics, nanoparticles, or heavy metals into your food.
Products like Caraway are also bad for the environment and a waste of money - they need to be replaced every 1-2 years.
Don't buy pans because "they're pretty". Buy pans that are healthy and longlasting.
The truth is, every cooking material is going to leach something.
If you're sensitive to iron, cast iron may not be great for you.
If you buy stainless steel made in China, you're likely absorbing metals.
There's no perfect solution... but I found something as close as possible:
Here's what you should look for in stainless steel:
- Surgical grade stainless steel (very rare)
- Fully clad - not a disk bottom
- Thickness (look for around 3mm thick)
- Flat handles or handles with a groove
- Cooktop compatibility
- American made - I avoid steel from China (most companies use this!)
- A great warranty plan
